This kehilla is based in nediva, free-will offering (a term from Torah that refers to the voluntary and spontaneous offerings brought to build and maintain the Mishkan). A sort of Biblical version of pay-what-you-can!
We do not have membership dues or sell tickets to services. No one will ever be turned away for not contributing financially.
We do not have any institutional funding (and we are generally pretty skeptical of institutions). We are what we got.
Kehilla services and other gatherings are a labour of love - which is real labour!
Much of what happens in the kehilla is done with as many free and cheap(er) resources as possible. That said, despite having no love for capitalism, things do still cost money.
The contributions people make in the forms of bringing food and other items, labour, and presence are all so holy and valuable. Sometimes we also need to fundraise dollars - including in order to facilitate financial accessibility such as by providing metro tickets and reimbursing food costs for those who need.
For any who are in a position to do so, we are grateful for any and all contributions to cover things like printing, food, and masks. You can e-transfer or paypal to daph (ask for email address or see the email that was sent on the listserv).
